Mati Mohammadi

Mati Mohammadi is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Texas A&M University-Kingsville in collaboration with the USDA Southern Plains Climate Hub. In her role, she will study the impacts of climate change on Southern Plains agroecosystems and agricultural commodity supply chains, using the system dynamics modeling approach. Mati holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics from Purdue University. She previously earned her B.S. in Management at Alzahra University and her M.S. in Entrepreneurship Management from Azad University in her hometown Tehran.

Her Ph.D. research focused on the impact of information technology in the beef industry, aligning her academic pursuits with real-world agri-food innovations. This work involved multi-agent modeling of the beef supply chain, using systems dynamics to explore potential effects of new information technology on the market under various market dynamics, consumer preferences, and power imbalances.

With over a decade of experience in food and agricultural marketing and sales, Mati has led various consumer behavior and market analysis projects, leading and collaborating with diverse teams. Her industry experience laid the foundation for her deep interest in agribusiness, which she further explored through her research on the beef industry.

During her time at Purdue, Mati contributed to the Center for Food and Agricultural Business (CAB). Her contributions included analyzing the Large Commercial Producer (LCP) Survey, co-authoring research on food channels, and authoring articles for the CAB website.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Mati enjoys traveling, cooking, and embracing the challenge of learning new things, including studying foreign languages.
