María De Bernardi

María earned her BSc in Environmental Technology and PhD in Applied Environmental and Health Sciences at the Universidad Nacional del Centro de la Provincia de Buenos Aires (Argentina). Her PhD and previous postdoctoral research focused on greenhouse gas (GHG) fluxes in the soil-atmosphere interface in relation to different land uses, principally evaluating the effect of changing natural ecosystems to anthropic ones. Maria’s research expertise includes conducting field experiments to study the effects of land use change on spatial-temporal variations in GHG fluxes and soil gas diffusivity using the static chamber technique combined with gas chromatography. Maria is now a USDA Southern Plains Climate Hub Fellow based at Kansas State University where she plans to focus on soil nitrogen in grazing land systems in the US.
