Silmarie Crespo Velez

Silmarie has a degree in Agronomy from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayaguez. During her studies she was a mentor for the Instituto Universitario para el Desarrollo de las Comunidades where she assisted teams with their action participation researches and plans alongside their communities. Silmarie was one of the participants of the Youth Climate Leaders 2019 Immersion Program where she learned about climate change adaptation practices in cities and created a project proposing the implementation of a gamified curriculum of gardening for elementary classes in public schools. As educating is one of her passions, she is a certified agronomist and agriculture teacher, and has taught various courses to high school students. She has also worked with family farming and farm to table projects in the Bayamón and Juncos Municipality. She is currently a Fellow for the Caribbean Climate Hub co-developing an Adaptation Guide for Tropical Agriculture and Forestry in the Caribbean.
