Caiti Steele

Caiti Steele is Coordinator and Deputy Director of the USDA Southwest Climate Hub. In this position, she is primarily responsible for stakeholder outreach, and regional and national partnerships.  She is a geographer by trade with expertise in remote sensing, geographical information systems and climate impacts on cropland agriculture and rangelands. She is based at the Southwest Hub headquarters in Las Cruces, NM. She is particularly interested in how climate adaptation priorities vary across the Southwest region and how socio-economic factors affect farmers and ranchers adaptive capacity. Current projects include partnering with Cooperative Extension Faculty and Agents to build a Southwest Extension Climate Partnership, expanding the CoCoRaHS network in New Mexico, and researching and developing information resources on climate and drought adaptation options.
