Coastal Resilience: Mapping portal

Overview:

Coastal Resilience supports a community of practitioners around the world who are applying spatial planning innovations to coastal hazard risk, resilience and adaptation issues. This is a global network providing access to peer practitioners, tools, information and training focused on nature-based solutions.

Purpose:

View where the Coastal Resilience program is working. Explore data and spatial analysis results for the rivers and shorelines of those locals so that managers and planners can explore the role of natural habitat in risk reduction along marine and fresh water shorelines to inform local restoration projects and development planning.

Inputs:

Clicking on areas where the Coastal Resilience program is working, select a region, choose adaptation strategy options, coastal flooding hazards, and sector at risk for damage.

Outputs:

Map identifies vulnerabilities due to sea level rise, compares the economic impacts of nature-based adaptation approaches with coastal armoring, and identifies potential migration pathways for coastal habitats.
