Free Email Warnings of Cattle Heat Stress

Summer is coming and bringing with it the chance of too much heat.  Hot weather can really stress cattle and other livestock.

The Southeast Climate Hub has a free alert system that will email you when heat and humidity conditions are predicted by the National Weather Service to put cattle into danger, so you can keep them cool. The system is based on USDA Agricultural Research Service’s Cattle Heat Stress Forecast but is customized for the location you enter once on a map (slide it north for our region!). Alerts occur when the upcoming days conditions are expected to put animals into the danger category (>120 breaths per minute).

Thank you Southeast Hub!
